Ex-Chief of NCP(UML) comes to Austria

Current Development and Political Scenario of Nepal :

Opportunities and Threats
Nepal still faces rampant poverty, regional imbalance, increasing social divide and numerous political, social, economic and cultural problems. These problems are not only manifest in the daily lives of the people, but have led to violent conflicts at the national, regional and local levels. Recent political developments after the success of Jana Andolan II (aka People's Movement II), including a momentum for negotiation Nepal’s development policies, strategies and priorities, opportunities and threats and moving towards the participatory democracy, are, understandably, at the forefront of the concerns and activities of all those involved in promoting the emergence of a ‘New Nepal’.
It is, thus, important that politicians, policy makers, scientist, development community as well as the people at large reflect and review Nepal ’s recent past and develop appropriate strategies- based on a fresh perspective and analysis. In this context, we are going to organize the interaction program entitled ‘Current Development and Political Scenario of Nepal: an Opportunities and Constraints’ on 25th November at Vienna . It is our great pleasure to have former Deputy Prime Minister & Leader of CPN (UML), Madhav Kumar Nepal, as a chief guest of the program. We would like to invite all Nepalese societies and individuals in and outside Vienna for active participation in the discussion and contribute for defining development priorities, and frame the direction and nature of political change at present development scenario of Nepal.
Mr. Nepal took part in a conference in Brazil on 19th of November. His planned route of travel is as follows -

24 Nov- Paris, France at 11:45 and Vienna, Austria at 23:15
26 Nov- Budapest, Hungary at 14:00
27 Nov- Brussels, Belgium

Fund sent to Koshi Victims

Fund sent to Koshi Flood Victims from Neplese Diaspora

We are pleased to inform and thank to Neplese Diaspora based in Austria and some other doners who are living in Austria for contributing fund to Koshi flood Victim in Nepal. We have transferred the amount to Prime minister Relief Fund. We declare hereby that we had collected a total of € 680.22 (the receipt of the bank transfer is scanned and pased hereon) of which € 665.22 is remitted and € 15.00 Bank charge occured.
We hope this would help the ill-fated people make a difference in their lives. Although it would be a drop in ocean. We thank them, who help raising fund and rescue our countrymen back in Nepal and hope they will do so again, if necessary.

Candidature of NESAS Elections

Today, we are glad to inform all about the candidature of the proximate elections that is going to hold on the 7th of September 2008. We are thankful to all individuals concerned for the betterment of Nepali Community in Austria and wish the candidates the best of luck on the elections. We are following the election schedule as per planned and mailed you before. Moreover, we feel proud to declare that many NESAS members have shown their interest to participate in the elections to get into NESAS Executive Committee and to become general members. We got several responses and requested to extend the election program and especially from executive committee members are working to form participative leadership. It seems apparantly that the real competition would be for the post of Vice President.

Therefore, we have decided to extend the election program till 7 Sep. 12 PM and our office will be work at general assembly hall in AAI building, Vienna in general assembly day ( 7 Sep,08).

NESAS : Introducing Itself

NESAS stands for नेपाली सामाजिक र सांस्कृतिक संस्था that is a Nepali Name for a non profit making social organisation for the welfare for all Nepalese based in Austria. The name means lieterally Nepalese Cultural and Social Society in English whereas Nepalesischer Kutur- und Sozialverein in German.

The Society is now on the way to improving best-possible network among the members and well-wishers. The authentic Email address is nesas.austria@gmail.com and address for it's blog is
wienesas@gmail.com.

Statistically, it is the biggest Nepali Organisation stationed in Austria covering a total of 300 members under it's umbrella. Whereas the whole number of the Nepalese in Austria is estimated to be around 500.
NESAS organises and holds mainly cultural Festivals, Folk Dance, Modern Dance from Nepali Soil. Despite problems regarding time schedules and the functionality, the organisation has succeeded to hold many very big Get-togethers, accompanied by great feasts.

Prabhakar Ghale presides the organisation and Deepak Malla, Dhruva Poudel, Somnath Poudel, Bhuwan are some of the most active members of the organisation.
We will write more about the organisation, its activities in the days to come.
